Dr. Manoj Shah, hailing from Nairobi, Kenya, has been elected to serve as the Third Vice President of Lions International at the Association’s 106th International Convention held in Melbourne, Australia, in June 2024. His impressive background includes successful ventures in the automobile, property, hospitality, and finance sectors. Let’s delve into the remarkable journey of this dedicated Lion.

Lion Activities:

Dr. Manoj Shah is a charter member of the Nairobi Greater Lions Club since 1988. He has held various offices within the association at Club, District, and International levels. As a Constitutional Area Leader of the Global Action Team – Africa, he played a pivotal role in Africa being recognized as a separate Constitutional Area. Dr. Shah served as a Trustee of the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and is a Campaign 100 Lead Gift Donor and LCIF Humanitarian Partner. His passion for leadership development led him to serve as faculty at several International Lions Leadership Institutes and facilitate leadership workshops across Africa and Asia. He is a certified LCIP Trainer for Lions International and has led the District Governors Elect seminar multiple times.

Philanthropic Endeavors:

Dr. Shah’s impact extends beyond Lionism. He played a pivotal role in establishing several Lions Service Centers in Kenya, including the Lions Renal Unit, Lions Dental Center, and Lions Hearing Center. He spearheaded the establishment of the first Lions Eye Bank in Kenya and serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of the Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital in Nairobi. Dr. Shah also contributed to establishing the first two Lions Comprehensive Diabetic Care Centers in Kenya.

Accolades and Honors:

His achievements have garnered recognition, including the “Elder of the Burning Spear” (EBS) Award by the President of the Republic of Kenya for his role in Nation Building. Lions International honored him with the “Ambassador of Goodwill Award”. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II conferred upon him the prestigious “Commander to the Venerable of St. John Medal” (CStJ) for Community Engagement. Dr. Shah holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humanity. His remarkable journey is documented in his published biography titled “One in A Million”.

Dr. Shah is actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations. He serves as the Chairman of the M.P. Shah Hospital and the Automobile Association of Kenya Road Safety Council. Additionally, he is a Member of the Priory Council of St. John, a Trustee of the Kilimanjaro Blind Trust, and a Board Member of Special Olympics Kenya. At the national level, he chairs The National Transport and Safety Association in Kenya. Dr. Shah and his equally dedicated wife, Jayna, are both Progressive Melvin Jones Fellows.
