He is married to Smt. Manju Kothari, and they have two accomplished children. His daughter Komal, an MBA, is married to Shri Abhishek Karnawat of Jaipur. His son Pulkit, also an MBA, is part of the family business and serves as a Leo-Lion and District Council Member of Leo District 322D.

Lion Lalit joined the Lions Club of Nagaon Greater in 2004 and quickly rose through leadership roles. At the club level, he served as Treasurer, Secretary, and President (2007–08 and 2021–22).

At the district level, he served as Zone Chairperson (2008–09), Region Chairperson(2013–14), Administrator – DG Secretariat (2019–20), District Chairperson – Peace Poster (2020–21), and GLT District Coordinator (2022–23). He was elected Second Vice District Governor in 2023, First Vice District Governor in 2024, and District Governor at the 46th Annual District Conference in Imphal (March 2025), and installed at the Lions International Convention in Orlando (July 2025).

He completed RLLI (2013), ALLI (2023), and the Certifying Guiding Lion Program (2011, 2024), and attended All India Schoolings in Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata.

His recognitions include the 100% Treasurer’s Award, Best Secretary, Club President’s Excellence Award, Best Zone Chairperson, and ”Lion of the Century.” He received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation, International Leadership Medal, and the International Presidential Award (2025–26). He has been named ”Lion of the Year” twelve times.

He is a Two Diamond Melvin Jones Fellow, Knight of D.F.F., and B. P. Bakshi Fellow.

As District Governor (2025–26), he led District 322D to achieve membership targets, contribute US$50,873 to LCIF, and exceed D.F.F. goals. He earned the Two Club Challenge Medal, Quick Start Medal, and Strong Finish Medal, and he was honoured as a ”Shining Star” by Lions Quest India Foundation.

Beyond Lionism, he is a Life Member of several organisations including Assam Sahitya Sabha, Indian Red Cross Society, and Marwari Sammelan. He served as President of Marwari Sammelan, Nagaon Branch (2021–23), and Secretary of Friends of Tribal Society (2017–2023).
