Lion Shankar Routh was elected as the 1st Vice District Governor at the 47th Lions Annual District Conference held at Naogaon, Assam, in February 2026. He is widely recognized as a dedicated leader whose life exemplifies the values of Service, Compassion, and Excellence.

A native of Golaghat, Assam, Lion Routh is an Honours Graduate in Accountancy, a Master’s Degree topper from Dibrugarh University, an ICAI Intermediate, and a Senior Practising Tax Consultant.

His journey in Lionism began as a Leo Member and has now spanned over 34 years of distinguished service. Throughout his Lions career, he has held numerous key leadership positions, including Club President (Silver Jubilee Year), Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, District Chairman, CSR Coordinator, and GMT Coordinator. He is also a proud RLLI Graduate and has served as a YLLI Faculty Member.

Lion Routh’s outstanding contributions have earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Presidential Medal and four International President’s Appreciation Certificates. Demonstrating his commitment to the growth of Lionism, he has successfully sponsored five new Lions Clubs. He currently serves as the Managing Trustee of the Golaghat Lions Foundation.

Beyond Lions, Lion Routh has made significant contributions to various social, educational, and religious organizations. He is a Life Member of Asom Sahitya Sabha and ISKCON, Founder President of the Golaghat Tax Bar Association and Golaghat Commerce College Alumni Association, Founder Treasurer of Shankar Dev Shishu Niketan, Academic Councillor and Governing Body Member of Prayash Academy (Junior College), and Managing Trustee of the Routh Foundation, his family trust.

Admired for his humility, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, Lion Shankar Routh continues to inspire communities both within and beyond the Lions fraternity. He is ably supported in all his endeavors by his wife, Lion Mithu Routh, and their son, Abhiroop Routh.
